Wolverhampton Man wins two-millionth Qashqai!

4th December 2014

A lucky motorist from the West Midlands has just won a unique piece of British motoring history thanks to Nissan and The Sun. Steven Wainwright from Wolverhampton in the West Midlands scooped the two-millionth Qashqai produced – and was handed the keys to his brand new car this past weekend at West Way Nissan in Wolverhampton.

One of the great British manufacturing success stories, the Qashqai reached the two million unit mark faster than any other model in the history of the UK car industry. The car that started the crossover revolution continues to be in high demand across the world with the Sunderland plant working around the clock to supply demand. On average, a new Qashqai rolls off the production line every 62 seconds.

“It’s just incredible to win this Qashqai,” said Steven. “The fact that this exact car created British motoring history and topped the two million mark makes it even more special. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel and enjoy it.”

James Wright, Managing Director, Nissan Motor GB, added: “On behalf of Nissan I’d like to congratulate Mr Wainwright on winning this landmark Qashqai. We hope he enjoys many safe and enjoyable miles in his new car.”

Designed, engineered and built in Nissan's UK facilities for European customers, this latest landmark caps a remarkable 2014 for the Qashqai, with January's launch of the new generation model sparking a string of accolades including What Car? magazine's coveted Car of the Year.
